On Monday 20 May, around 14.45, a very unpleasant incident took place in the student car park behind the Jubilee Building at Guildford College, Stoke Park.
A group of male students racially abused one of our students and threw lit cigarettes through the small opening in the window of the student’s parked car.
The student was understandably shocked and upset. The matter has been reported to the Police because their behaviour is criminal – both the vandalism of the car and the racial abuse of the student. The car has burn marks inside but could have caught ablaze placing people at risk, along with other vehicles.
I am sure you are as shocked by this as I was and would like to know that we are all in a safe and respectful environment. If anyone has any information about this incident please share it – you could tell your tutor, tell your Student Union or Faculty rep, tell Reception – just tell a member of staff. We cannot protect those who did this – they need to understand the consequences of their behaviour.
I ask all of you to share in keeping our environment a safe place to be – if you see somebody doing something they clearly should not be doing – tell someone! Let’s work together to make sure this does not happen to another student again.
